She has had a difficult few years, battling illness and attacks from body shamers.
But, as she is on vacation and her new album is just days away from release, Selena Gomez appears to be on the mend.
The 27-year-old pop superstar was recently spotted in a green bikini on the deck of a luxury yacht off the coast of Hawaii.
She certainly deserves some rest and relaxation after finishing work on her third studio album, Rare, which is set for release next week.
She appeared to be in good spirits as she laid out next to a gal pal tanning on board the luxurious watercraft.
Selena was dressed in an olive green bikini with a sport top and high-waisted bottoms.
Her brunette hair was styled in messy waves, and she wore no makeup to show off her natural beauty.
Earlier in the day, she was seen wearing a sheer white dress over her swimsuit and a matching hair wrap.
It’s nice to see Selena in such good spirits after she recently opened up about the effects body shamers have had on her during a September appearance on Raquelle Stevens’ video podcast Giving Back Generation.
During the interview, the singer admitted that the ‘attacks’ had’messed’ her up.
‘I have lupus and deal with kidney issues and high blood pressure, so I deal with a lot of health issues, and for me that’s when I really started noticing more of the body image stuff,’ explained the Wolves hitmaker, who revealed her diagnosis in 2015.
Selena attributed her weight fluctuation to a combination of her condition, medications, and other health factors.
‘It’s the medication I have to take for the rest of my life — to be honest, it depends on the month,’ she said of her weight.
Nonetheless, some people criticized the star’s physique.
‘So, for me, I really noticed when people began attacking me for [gaining weight]. In reality, that is simply my truth. I oscillate. It depends on what’s going on in my life.’
However, it was difficult not to be affected by the comments.
‘That really got to me. That messed me up for a while,’ she admitted.
However, she has attempted to rise above the negativity.
‘I don’t want to expose myself to everyone and hear what they think about it,’ she explained to a podcaster friend.
