A tough time: 'A couple of years ago, it looked like I was living some fairy tale. It really wasn’t. At that time, my experimentation with drugs and booze and the circle of people around me was not fulfilling or sustainable or ever going to get me to my fullest potential and purpose,' she said; seen with Liam Hemsworth in 2018

In retrospect, a few years ago seemed like a fairytale for me, but it was far from reality. During that time, I found myself caught up in a destructive cycle of experimenting with drugs and alcohol, surrounded by a group of people who didn’t contribute to my growth or purpose in life. It was a rough period that I relied on substances to cope with.

Looking back, I also remember how the media would judge my appearance as an indication of my mental state as an artist. They would assume that if my hair was long and blond, I must be in a good place mentally and not struggling with any substance abuse issues. But the moment my hair was styled in a more unconventional way or I chose to grow out my armpit hair, they would jump to the conclusion that I was under the influence of drugs.
